DD2 stated she needs a box diorama for steamboats, or is a steam engine..... I knew I could do both.

Carts used:
My World -- steamboat and steamboat shadow @ 10 inches
My World -- steam engine and steam engine shadow @ 10 inches
Everyday Paper Dolls -- waves @ 3 inches (real dial)
Blackletter -- S and P 2.75 inches e, a, m, o, w, e, r @ 2.5 inches

Paper:
White, blue and black are Provo craft 12" x 24"
Patterned paper is from my stash

I used the cricut markers to draw the steamboat and engine then used the shadow feature to make the actual cuts. I used pieces from the box flaps to create bracing so the pieces will stand. I used a pieces of the box to make the bridge for the steam engine. We printed facts about steam engines and steamboats then attached them to box sides.
I created this quick double page spread as part of an album I am making for dd1's choir adventures. This is an 8 1/2 by 11 horizontal album. I made this project for the "Year in Review" January Cricut Circle contest. The letters are from my stash, the paper is card stock from Walmart and JoAnn's. I cut the GP at 2" and the rest of the letters at 1 1/2". I used Cricut Craft Room Basic, Varsity Letter and Cricut Alphabet. I had some trouble getting the file to cut properly. I think I need to update my E2. I have another CCR project to so I will it again after I update my machine. I wanted to create some movement with the letters to give the page a fun teen look.

I got the plastic containers from my local Christmas Event. We made about 30 of these containers as they were teacher gifts for my co-workers and my DDs teacher gifts. These are for my brother's family. I made cuts that matched each person's personality. The cuts were made from various carts cut at "real dial" 2.29 or 2.4.
This is from one of the books I made the girls in my Girl Scout troop. As a community service project to earn their "dance" badge they used my E2 and E1 machines to cut very large dance icons and put them on the walls of the dance studio they attend. The dance teacher was very impressed with the images and the girls' interest in making the dance studio a more beautiful place.

I used my Cuttlebug to add texture to my Cricut cuts. I used Shall We Dance and basic pink paper from my stash. The cutouts are 3 inches. These pages go with the title page from my previous post. I will use it at school for Spring Open House next week. This banner was a big challenge for me because I wanted all the backgrounds the same but didn't have 7 matching pieces of paper. I solved my problem by buying a roll of wrapping paper and cutting my squares from it. To add stability to the project I cut the same square shape from cereal boxes then glued the wrapping paper top the cereal boxes. I used pop-dots to under the circles and the letters. I cut my letters from dark red cardstock then covered the entire letter with a thick layer of glitter glue. The letter shadow is cut from dark blue. I used my xryon machine to apply an even layer of adhesive to attach the letter base to its shadow. I used dark blue ribbon to string the letters together. I taped the ribbon to the back of each letter so my banner will hang nicely. I am very pleased with the results of this challenge

I cut the puzzle pieces at 6 inches and the symbols at 4 inches. My principal liked it so much she want me to cut vinyl pawprints for the hallway. I'll post those pics later.
.The saying is "connecting MATH to our world". I made an 8 piece puzzle with the word math and math symbols.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800093344397885442.post-21933252123779475132011-01-13T21:38:00.000-06:002011-01-13T21:38:49.633-06:00Thrift Store FindI found this wooden tray near the toy section of my local thrift store. The tray had a few magnetic dress-up bear pieces in it. The thrift store clerk gave em the tray because there were so many missing pieces. In fact they were throwing it away!!

I painted the tray a reddish pink color using paint pens and glued various scraps paper from my stash into the try spaces.

I used Home Accents for the love sentiment, Gypsy Wanderings with shadows for the hearts. I cut the swans using Splish Splash.

I cut one of the swans regularly and flipped the other swan using my gypsy. I folded a piece of cardstock to form a box to "pop" the love sentiment from the frame.

I added a sticker to the heart on the top right and hung it from the top of the tray using fishing line. The heart at the top center are white and red foamies. I poured clear melted UTEE into an old bottled cap then sprinkled some melted red embossing powder top of the clear.

The large heart at the center left is from gypsy wandering cut with matching shadow.

The figure at the bottom left is from my dd's Lego set.

I added jewels using my I-Rock to the bottom pattern-paper strip.

I think this is one of my favorite projects!!
He loved it!. It was a really simple process I used my Gypsy and School box for the lettering, and My Community page 44 oil derrick and pump jack. The lettering is red vinyl (cut at 3 inches) and the oilfield equipment is black vinyl (cut at 4 inches). It made a great gift; my brother was impressed with the project.
This is my first project using it. I used a Creative Memories cutting die to cut a window out of the front cover. Dd1 loves to look at the horse she got to ride last yer. I added a title using Gypsy Font for the words, Gypsy Wandering for the heart and My Community for the road and the horse. I matted the photos and double sided the paper so the mini album would have the look of a storybook. Dd1 really loves her book!!

I found the Your Story Photo very easy to use. The instructions were well written and the machine performed as expected. After using the Your Story it cooled quickly so I could put it back in my scrapbook tool box. If you do not have a Your Story Photo I highly recommend you get one!! I used Tags Bags & Boxes for the box. I used Christmas for the tree branches and the red ribbon; My Community for the doll; Celebrations for the presents; 3 Birds for the lights and Very Merry Tags for the candy canes. I cut about 50 branches at 3/4" from 2 shades of green and glued them to the box base on 3 sides. I left the back plain so I can add a tag. I cut the lights then colored them with markers and added Glassy Accents to the light bulbs. I then cut and colored the doll and presents. I glued the lights, ribbon, doll and presents to the tree then added I-rock gems to the tree for a touch of bling. Finally I tied a gold wired edge ribbon through the hole in the top so I can hang the box from the tree.
The project is almost 2 feet tall. I bought the letter from JoAnns, then painted it red with craft paint. The back is covered with scrapbook paper. I matted the photos with scrapbook paper from my stash. I used Schoolbook to make the letters from self-adhesive glitter paper. (I had to remove the release paper before I cut the letters). I cut the accents from When It's Cold Outside, Snow Friends and Very Merry Tags. I used Fiskars texture plates to emboss the large ornaments (I have a cuttlebug under the tree....come on Christmas!). The stickers and the felt snowman are from my stash. I made "Ks" for my DDs to hang in there room. This projects WOWs people when they come into out living room.
It was very difficult for me to pull off the "vintage" look. I used Christmas for the wreath and candle and Calligraphy Collection for the "Merry Christmas". The ribbon (Ivory Crochet Lace) came from Scrapgoods. The paper is from my stash.
Thanks for looking!
Cricut Circle Magazine Challenge
I had a difficult time deciding what type of ornament to make then I saw an kids' craft catalog and knew just what to make. I used Christmas for the window and its shadow and Snow friends for the snowman and hat/shirt. I used a mini Nifty Knitter for the scarf. I used some left over yarn to make the hanger. The picture is from my college graduation ceremony last Dec. when I earned my Master's degree. I am very pleased with my project and had a great time learning to use the Nifty Knitter. DD1 enjoyed playing "teacher"; she has used the Nifty Knitter for several years.

I used Ashlyn's Alphabet for the title, Stretch Your Imagination for the palm trees, 3 Birds on Parade for the lights and Celebrations for the presents. The inks are from Stampin' Up. I added Glossy accents to the lights and jewel stickers from my stash as accents on the palm trees. I think it sums up I, a teacher and a servant of God am called to do. I really wanted to go to the Houston Circle Meet-up but one simple question changed my plans.

You never the choices God will asked you to make. This year’s Red Ribbon Parade was the same day as my much anticipated Houston Cricut Meet-up. I had everything packed and ready to go when one of my special needs students asked me if I was going to the parade because he wanted to walk in the parade with me like he did last year. Well needless to say I went to the parade and my special needs student was able to walk in the parade instead of watching his classmates walk. I know God is beside me and will take care of my needs.
I used it to make her a "thank you" card. I chose the fall colors to celebrate the fall season and so I could enter in the week's Circle Blog Challenge. I used "All Mixed-Up" and "Celebrations" for the card. To add texture to the orange panel I used my Fiskars texture template. I don't have a cuttlebug so I had to get creative to add texture to texture to my project.

I loaned her my old Canon SLR (film type). I am using my Canon Digital SLR. I downloaded a 12 photography lesson program from 2 Peas in a Bucket a couple of years ago. I downloaded the photography lessons but didn't have time to complete the lessons. Now that DD2 wants to learn to use a "real" camera I have a perfect method to teach her how to use a camera while learning a few things myself.
I am also teaching DD1some basketball fundamentals. Basketball try-outs will be happening in a couple of weeks and DD1 needs some coaching so she will be ready for try-outs.

I decided to make mini albums for our photography and basketball adventures. The albums are standard white cardstock. I used 3 Birds for the basketball player and Every Day Paper Dolls fro the photographers. I used a variety of fonts fro the titles. I will use metal binder rings to for the binding when we have finished our "camp".

I used Happy Hauntings for the lettering and French Manor for the door. The "door" is actually the armoire. I used the "hide" feature on the Gypsy to delete some of the cuts then squared-off the sides to make a door shape. I used Cricut markers to create the door framing. I printed the party information on my printer then cut and glued the text box behind the door. The bat and witch's hat are stickers from my stash.

I finished 3 projects today one was start to finish the other two were cuts that needed to be glued.

This is my start to finish project. My brother took my DDs to the Valentine Father-Daugther Dance. It meant so much to my girls to be able to go to the dance. I am a single mom with 10 years of "experience" so this was a very special evening for my girls (my girls carry a wallet sized picture with them. My brother had a great time too. I (we) are so lucky to have him.
